Synopsis: (Continued from TOS #80)
While the Skull holds the Cosmic Cube in his grip, fantasizing about what power he will attain with it, Cap fights back. But his attempt to stop the Skull is met with the fury of the Cube, as the Skull uses it in a myriad of ways to stop every one of Cap's advances.
As he keeps Cap at bay, the Skull regales him with his fantasies of world and universal domination with the power of the Cube. But for Cap's defeat, the Skull has only one wish: to see the red, white and blue Avenger go down in hand-to-hand combat. He forms a "man-thing" out of dust to fight against Cap. It's a fierce battle, and just as Cap is about to win, the Skull wills the man-thing into limbo.
Then, he begins to dematerialize Cap's atoms into nothingness, but the quick-thinking Cap formulates a plan. He tells the Skull that his greatest victory would not be a quick death for him, but to force him into a life of servitude by his side. The Skull's vainglory tells him this is a great idea! Emboldened by the power of the Cosmic Cube, the Skull envisions Cap as his mindless lackey, serving him as leader of a so-called "Knights of the Round Table". The Skull girds himself in a suit of armed gilded with solid gold and beckons Cap to draw near to promise fealty to his "king" forever. Cap kneels before him, then leaps up with his shield, pushing the Skull out onto a rocky precipice.
Cap grabs his wrist so he cannot enclose the Cube tightly in his grip. The Skull must wrap his grip around the Cube to maximize its power, but Cap will not let go. So the Skull causes the ground beneath them to quake, which causes Cap to lose his grip, but also causes the Skull to fall into the sea below, with the Cube hitting water as well! Dragged down by his heavy suit of armor, the Skull seemingly drowns and the Cube is lost beneath the waters of the sea.
