Synopsis: Col. Nick Fury interrupts a training session to bring to Cap's attention a mysterious organization he has uncovered named "Them". While the pair of WWII vets hash out the details, a strange craft lands next to the Avengers mansion, and an oddly-garbed humanoid saunters out, melting a hole in the wall through which he walks with a sense of ominous purpose.

Moments later, he puts Nick and Cap on the defensive, shooting chemical mists of flame out of his fingertips. Despite the mansion's Frigi-Defense System, Cap's unerringly aimed shield, and Nick Fury's brawling gusto, the humanoid fights back with overwhelming force.

And all the while, "Them" are watching the scene unfold via close-circuit television. Determined to destroy the head of SHIELD so they can come out into the open, "Them" are content to spend their time doing DNA research to build up an army of humanoids.

Back at the mansion, Cap and Nick finally get the best of their foe as Nick Fury feeds a sleeping pill down the android's throat. The humanoid shrivels up once his mission has concluded. Nick Fury slaps a "Priority A-1" SHIELD badge in Cap's hand and says to use it to reach him whenever he needs to.
