Dormammu captures the traitorous Clea and holds her prisoner, and rails against Mordo for once again
losing Dr. Strange. They are more determined than ever to capture the heroic mystic. For his part,
Dr. Strange is scouring the Earth, checking in on friendly mystics to ask what they know of Eternity.
He finally meets with Abu Ben Hakim, a servant of the great Rama Kaliph, who has had a spell of silence
cast on him by Mordo so he cannot reveal the secret of Eternity. Dr. Strange makes his way to Genghis,
a crazy old mystic who claims to have the secret of Eternity. He rummages through his library and hands
over a scroll to Dr. Strange, who uses the spells on it to open a portal which he thinks will take him to
Eternity.
He walks through the portal and finds himself in a bizarre world where he sees a man bound in chains.
The man begs Dr. Strange to release him from his bonds, and Strange begins by pulling off a mask that
covered his eyes. Much to his surprise, the man is a demon who is able to switch bodies with Strange
through his fierce gaze, leaving Dr. Strange in chains in his body while he roams free in Dr. Strange's
body. Only by looking into the demon's eyes can Dr. Strange break the spell, so the demon covers his
face with a mask, but Dr. Strange is still able to control his cloak of levitation. He uses it to bind and
gag the demon, and unable to coordinate an effective attack, the demon switches bodies with Dr.
Strange once again.
He then decides to release all his former victims and order them to attack Dr. Strange.
The magician uses the light of his amulet to drive them back and return them to their homes,
then destroys the demon and his evil kingdom. He returns to the Ancient One's bedside to continue
his vigil. Worried that his quest for Eternity has produced no results, Dr. Strange determines that he now
has no choice but to enter the mind of the comatose Ancient One to get the answers he seeks.
