Synopsis: Baron Mordo has received augmented powers from an unknown source, and along with two accomplices, he uses those powers to attack Dr. Strange at the Ancient One's home in Tibet. Dr. Strange realizes Mordo's powers have been significantly increased somehow, and he must retreat with the Ancient One rather than face Mordo at a disadvantage. As he flies in retreat, Dr. Strange is followed by Mordo, but he is able to give him the slip when the powerful being who helped Mordo exhausts his abilities to help any further. The powerful being? Dormammu, who, though he agreed to never directly attack Earth's dimension, never agreed to not attack indirectly!

Dormammu commands Mordo to find Strange and not let him escape in the next battle. He sends along a few dozen spirits to help with the search. Dr. Strange leaves the Ancient One in the care of a friendly Tibetan hermit and then carries on with his escape from Mordo, in order to rest and research how he can beat his ultimate foe. He makes it to Hong Kong and lies low with long-time friend Sen-Yu. He decides to change into street clothes and keep a low profile, but as he tries to escape Hong Kong, he is spotted by Mordo's agents. He defeats them easily enough, but realizes that he must live life on the run for a time, until he can figure out how to beat Mordo.
