Synopsis: (Continued from SS #8.)

Mephisto lures the Silver Surfer back to Earth, which brings him into the midst of the Flying Dutchman. The ghost of the old sea captain is terrorizing Manhattan, and reveals to the Surfer who it is that he serves. They clash in the city streets, and the Dutchman separates the Surfer from his board.

Mephisto arrives on Earth to witness the fight, and turns invisible and watches as the battle descends into a subway tunnel. The Dutchman bellows for the Surfer to give up his soul to stave off further punishment, but the Surfer refuses until the ghost grabs an innocent woman. The Surfer calls on his power cosmic and shatters the Flying Dutchman, separating him from the woman. As the Dutchman is about to depart to the nether regions of Hell, the Surfer sheds a tear for his fate, which amazingly frees the ghost from Mephisto's grip!
