"...but Elektra went astray. Ravaged by persona tragedy, she became corrupt, evil. An assassin. And she died a pointless death, at the hands
of another assassin. But suppose she hadn't..."

The Watcher visits Matt Murdock at Elektra's graveside and recounts his history with the assassin, up to her death. He then asks the question, "What if Bullseye had not killed Elektra?" He relates to Matt a reality wherein Bullseye was shot dead during his prison escape. He then catches Matt up to the point where Elektra had allowed Foggy Nelson, her next target, to run away, the point at which Bullseye killed her. But since Bullseye is dead, events unfold at a different pace....
The Kingpin gets word that Elektra didn't finish her mission to kill Foggy. Eric Slaughter propositions Kingpin that he should replace Elektra in his favor as chief assassin. Kingpin agrees that if Slaughter can kill her, he will have all the business he can handle. Foggy races back to Matt's apartment to tell him Elektra just tried to kill him. He realizes he must now stop her- she has gone too far. Daredevil searches the city for her whereabouts, but cannot find her. However, Slaughter's men have caught up to her, but she is equal to the task of providing for her lethal self-defense, and though she is grazed by a bullet, she gets away.
Matt arrives back home and senses a trail of blood. It leads to his bed, where Elektra sits. He tells her he has to take her in to the law. She tells him that she will be killed in jail by the Kingpin. She draws him close and they kiss.
Later in the week, none of Matt's associates know where he is. Foggy goes to his apartment and a real estate agent opens it. She's marketing the brownstone to new buyers, and the space is absolutely clean. Meanwhile, in an unknown place in the world, Elektra and Matt sit on the rocky shores of the ocean, living a new life away from all they had known.
With his story ended, the Watcher tells Matt not to let this get to him, that he still has a life to live, and it will be the only life he knows.
