FANTASTIC FOUR #538: "Street Fighting"

While Johnny recuperates from wounds he suffered in a beating from anti-hero assailants, Ben keeps a vigil over him. Meanwhile, Sue and Reed squabble over their respective stances over registration and the role the FF will play in implementing it. The Yancy Street Gang, led by their leader, Cee, talks to the Thing about making a stand for what's right, in this case standing against the erosion of civil liberties that the Registration Act means to them. Meanwhile, Dr. Don Blake arrives in Oklahoma and picks up Thor's hammer.

FANTASTIC FOUR #539: "Decisions Made"

Cee and the Yancy Street Gang help Cap by gathering intelligence on Iron Man's movements. The Thinker and Puppet Master prepare to control the factors involved in a convoy moving super-humans to prison. The Puppet Master manipulates a helicopter to fire missiles at the convoy and causes more mayhem with a bomb explosion. Ben is pulled at from both sides, and stops the bomb. Cee winds up dead; Ben's reaction is frustration with both sides acting irresponsible in the face of death and decides to leave the country rather than consort with either side.

Later, he confronts the Mad Thinker and before the two come to blows, the Mad Thinker hears out Reed Richards' offer, one he cannot refuse. Johnny heads to France to pick up his buddy Ben, who is ready to return to the US. The Mad Thinker is permitted into Reed's private sanctuary in order to double-check all his calculations. Unknown to Reed, the Thinker has arranged for Sue to follow him into the sanctuary, invisible, so as to witness Reed speak about things he never did before in front of her. Now, Sue is more determined that ever that she, too, made the right choice.

The special includes interviews with just about everyone who has come into contact with the team over the years. Meanwhile, Sue and Reed are up in the sky, floating in the Fantasti-Car, hashing out their differences in light of the recent civil war between heroes, spending much of the time trying to reconcile issues of trust. They return to Johnny and Ben and inform them that they are going to step away from the team to work on their relationship. Furthermore, while the Wakandan embassy is being rebuilt, Storm and Black Panther will be replacing them in the Fantastic Four!
